To Use:
-Before use, soak the Bio-foam in aquarium water for 5 mins.
-The sponge needs to be cleaned every time it gets dirty, about every 2 to 4 weeks
-Use the water in the fish tank instead of tap water to gently clean the sponge, which helps to preserve the beneficial bacteria
- When re-using the Bio-foam, do squeeze the foam in the water to remove all trapped air bubbles.This will keep the filter stay submerged.
-After 2-5 months of use, the pores of the sponge are gradually blocked by tiny debris, and the beneficial bacteria will not have as much living space as before. At this time, the sponge filter begins to lose efficiency
-Therefore, it is recommended to replace the sponge every two to five month
HOW DOES IT WORK?
-A sponge filter uses bubbles of air from an external air pump, or an integral water pump to draw water through the sponge.
-As water is drawn out through the lift tube or pump, it is replaced by water entering the sponge.
-The surface of all the bubbles or pockets in the sponge provides a bed for the bacteria of a biological filter.
-The bacteria help to break down harmful waste (ammonia and nitrite).
-The filter is very suitable for small fish, such as Sparus macrocephalus, malachite fish, stickleback, discus, etc. it is also suitable for hatchery, spawning pool and fry pool, because the current generated by the filter is the smallest, and there is almost no way to inhale fish through the filter.
-In addition, tiny bubbles are produced in the air injection chamber to increase the solubility of oxygen.
