Frozen Croissant Butter Dough Ready To Bake Croffle 5 Pcs
A croffle is the marriage of two of my favorite breakfast items: the croissant and the waffle. The best thing about this happy combination? It's CRAZY EASY. Like, even easier than waffles. All you do is take some thawed puff pastry (available at a grocery store near you) and press it in the waffle iron for 4-5 minutes. If you're like me and prefer pain au chocolat to a plain croissant, then just add some chocolate chips.
The flaky, pastry layers puff up and fill the little squares of the iron and get the perfect crispy outer edge.
The croffle was created by an Irish pastry chef and it eventually became quite popular over in Korea.
You will love this croffle recipe because it is dead simple and you can elevate the recipe as you desire.
This can be made in its simplest form or you can put your hand to the task and make the pastry dough yourself. It’s totally up to you!
There are 3 type to enjoy the croffle
1. Frozen Croissants– You may also grab frozen puff pastry if you don’t have frozen croissants in your store. Your frozen croissants will need to be thawed before using in this recipe. Alternatively, you can make your own pastry dough, which isn’t difficult, it just takes time.
2. Sugar– Any type of granular sugar will work for this recipe. I used regular sugar and this coats the outside and helps give the croffles a sweet glaze on the outside that caramelizes when it hits the hot waffle iron.
3. Maple Syrup– Once your croffles are cooked, drizzle over maple syrup and enjoy!
